Dimension Energy Secures $857M for Solar
Dimension Energy, a U.S. distributed-energy developer, announced a $857-million capital infusion to expand its solar portfolio. The funding includes a $200-million credit-facility upsizing and a $657-million construction-to-term debt and tax-equity package for 29 projects totaling 149 MW across five states.

Dimension Energy, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, disclosed in mid-August that it has secured an $857-million capital infusion to accelerate its distributed-solar program.
The package comprises a $200-million upsizing of the company’s corporate credit facility and a $657-million construction-to-term debt and tax-equity financing package. Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit led the credit-facility upsizing, while MUFG Bank, First Citizens Bank, ING Capital and National Bank of Canada coordinated the debt, with Fifth Third Bank as joint lead arranger. Advantage Capital served as the tax-equity investor.
The new commitments bring Dimension’s total corporate credit facility to $650 million, providing flexibility to move projects from development into construction.
Project Portfolio and Financing Details
The $657-million package will finance 29 distributed-solar projects across Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, with a combined capacity of 149 MW. The portfolio is supported by tax-equity from Advantage Capital.
| Financing Component | Amount | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate credit facility | $650 million | Total facility after upsizing |
| Construction-to-term debt | $657 million | Debt portion of portfolio financing |
| Tax-equity | $657 million | Equity portion for 29 projects |
| Projects | 29 | Distributed solar sites |
| Capacity | 149 MW | Total project capacity |
The funding follows a $650 million portfolio financing closed earlier in the year, underscoring the company’s momentum.
Leadership and Market Outlook
Rafael Dobrzynski, co-founder and CEO, said the new commitments “reflect the strength of our platform” and will allow the company to scale “with discipline and speed at a moment when demand for distributed power has never been higher.”
Don Dimitrievich, global head of Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit, added that Dimension’s execution discipline and portfolio quality give the lender confidence to scale alongside the developer. Tom Bitting, managing director at Advantage Capital, highlighted the company’s track record of moving quality projects from development through construction.
Fred Zelaya, managing director at MUFG, noted that the portfolio will provide long-term sustainable energy to various U.S. communities.
Growth Targets and Asset Base
Dimension currently owns more than 600 MW of distributed energy assets that are operating or under construction. The company has set a target to reach 1 GW of operating assets by 2028.
The firm’s portfolio expansion is expected to impact future stats of distributed energy assets and will influence the broader market for distributed power.
Dimension Energy’s growth strategy aligns with the rising demand for distributed generation, as transmission and distribution costs climb alongside traditional generation costs.
The company’s latest financing package will enable it to continue scaling its distributed-solar platform, bringing reliable, affordable power to more communities across the country.
